I don t want to pay 460 for them from bmw. The bmw 3 series e46 service manual from bentley publishers is considered a reference work for repair procedures and a must have for any diy er. I took the door lock assembly out today to replace a broken piece and clean out the insides. So like most old e46s my door lock actuator went out.

So i decided to try to remove the door lock tumbler assembly per the bentley. The only difference between the two locks is this piece is for the e46 3 series and this piece slightly smaller for the x5 and the x3. This also works for the x5 and the x3. Anyone know a way of replacing a key tumbler in a door lock boot lock.

Since i did the feel like ordering a new one at that moment i used the key to lock and unlock my doors until the cast parts inside broke like they tend to do.
